Job description

Position Description The Parks & Recreation Supt. - Sports & Golf position performs managerial and administrative duties in directing the operations and activities of Sports Permitting and Reservations and the overall operation of all Metro Parks Golf Clubhouses. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Revenue Producing who is consulted on operational procedures and assists in developing long and short-range goals.

Hours are typically Monday through Friday but may include variable hours including weekends and evenings. Performs related duties as required. Metro's Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities and programs throughout Davidson County.

Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 184 parks and 107 miles of greenway. Metro Parks offers after school programs for children, activities for seniors (55+), cultural arts classes, dog parks, fitness classes, nature programs, sports leagues, ice hockey, art galleries, and much more. It is the mission of Metro Parks and Recreation to sustainably and equitably provide everyone in Davidson County with an inviting network of parks and greenways that offer health, wellness, and quality of life through recreation, conservation, and community.

This fast-paced, diverse, and multi-faceted environment might be just the place for you. Typical Duties Oversees all activities related to golf clubhouse operations. Evaluates divisional operating procedures and make recommendations for improvement.

Develops departmental policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and work methods. Formulates long and short-range goals and objectives for better operating efficiency. Oversees and maintain all Sports related Park Board approved permits.

Works closely with adult and youth sports leagues for use of sports fields. Ensures the safety of golf course patrons by inspecting golf course clubhouses. Evaluates clubhouse facility operations in person regularly to ensure efficiency and consistency at all golf courses.

Oversees and work with managers to develop marketing strategies and their implementation for the golf system. Evaluates programs regularly to ensure that they are efficient and consistent with departmental goals and policies. Assists with preparation of the budget.

Analyzes and prepares financial, administrative and business performance reports. Oversees personnel related duties, including counseling employees as needed. Supervises staff, assigns duties, maintains leave records, and evaluates performance.

Recruits, hires and trains staff. Determines purchasing needs and prepares orders for golf course clubhouses. Oversees Sports Permitting & Reservations staff.

Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years of professional experience in an administrative, financial, technical, or related field. *Additional experience may be considered in lieu of some education LICENSES REQUIRED: A valid Driver License Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
