Position Overview

The Assistant Golf Professional assists the Head Golf Professional in all aspects of day-to-day operations, including golf, retail, and special events/tournaments. The Assistant Golf Professional reports to the Head Golf Professional.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver exceptional customer service in every guest interaction while promoting golf programs, activities, and services.
  • Welcome and assist arriving guests, providing information on tee times, course conditions, course policies, and other golf-related services.
  • Handle, transport, and stage guests' golf bags and equipment with care.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and appearance of the golf shop, cart storage facility, practice facility, and surrounding guest service areas.
  • Assist with receiving, pricing, merchandising, and selling golf shop merchandise and supplies.
  • Meet sales, rental, and service performance expectations as directed by the Head Golf Professional.
  • Work closely with the Golf Shop, Food & Beverage, and Guest Services teams to ensure a seamless guest experience and compliance with club policies, including dress code and beverage regulations.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, including inspecting facilities and golf carts, securing and opening buildings, and arming or disarming security systems as required.
  • Serve as a role model for Guest Services Attendants by demonstrating excellent performance standards, assisting with on-the-job training, and promoting accountability within the team.
  • Teach individual golf lessons and conduct clinics as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Golf Professional.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experienced and passionate about the game of golf
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

In addition, the ideal candidate will be or have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 2+ years in the golf and/or hospitality industry
  • PGA membership
  • Ability to maneuver and park vehicles safely and accurately, including larger vehicles, in diverse parking environments and tight spaces.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to visually inspect golf shop and indoor operations area for cleanliness
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work, may be required to lift 100 lbs. occasionally, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly, performing such activities as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, and grasping for up to five hours without sitting
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles

Work Environment

This position will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions in performing the duties of the job.
