Job description

Process/ Mechanical Engineer
Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Skills and Experience:
This position is responsible for executing process engineering designs for industrial manufacturing projects, primarily within the consumer products industry. The Process Engineer will develop engineering calculations, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), general arrangement drawings, design basis documents, specifications, and associated engineering documentation while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and project objectives.

The role includes analyzing process data, evaluating design feasibility, identifying potential process upsets and implementing practical engineering solutions, applying commercially available process technologies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout all phases of project execution. The successful candidate will also support equipment selection and specification, assist with plant startup activities, and maintain strong relationships with clients while providing technical expertise during project development and execution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required
  • Experience executing or leading process engineering designs for industrial manufacturing projects
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations, PFDs, P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, design basis documents, specifications, and associated engineering deliverables
  • Knowledge of chemicals and fluids commonly used in consumer products manufacturing and material compatibility considerations
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Fathom
  • Understanding of fluid control valves, process instrumentation, and control systems
  • Experience specifying and sizing pumps, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and other process equipment
  • Ability to analyze process data, evaluate design feasibility, and troubleshoot process upsets
  • Strong understanding of applicable engineering codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Excellent customer relationship management, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with on-site plant support, field engineering, and startup activities preferred
  • Industrial process engineering experience in consumer products preferred; experience in chemical, power, pulp & paper, heavy industrial, or food & beverage industries is a plus
