The Director of Operations, Athletic & Entertainment Facilities directs the daily operations of Missouri State Athletics & Entertainment facilities, including Great Southern Bank Arena, Plaster Stadium, Hammons Student Center, the Betty and Bobby Allison Athletic Center, and future Athletics & Entertainment facilities. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and supervising facility operations, maintenance, custodial services, technical production, event setups and conversions, facility inspections, preventative maintenance programs, inventory management, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
The Director of Operations is responsible for supervising full-time, part-time, student, and temporary employees assigned to operations and production while ensuring Athletics & Entertainment facilities remain safe, clean, efficient, and event-ready for intercollegiate athletics, concerts, commencements, university events, facility rentals, and special events. The position collaborates with University departments, contractors, promoters, and third-party vendors to ensure successful facility operations and event execution.
Description of Primary Duties
The Director of Operations, Athletic & Entertainment Facilities directs the daily operations of Missouri State Athletics & Entertainment facilities, including Great Southern Bank Arena, Plaster Stadium, Hammons Student Center, the Betty and Bobby Allison Athletic Center, and future Athletics & Entertainment facilities. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and supervising facility operations, maintenance, custodial services, technical production, event setups and conversions, facility inspections, preventative maintenance programs, inventory management, purchasing, and vendor relationships.
The Director of Operations is responsible for supervising full-time, part-time, student, and temporary employees assigned to operations and production while ensuring Athletics & Entertainment facilities remain safe, clean, efficient, and event-ready for intercollegiate athletics, concerts, commencements, university events, facility rentals, and special events. The position collaborates with University departments, contractors, promoters, and third-party vendors to ensure successful facility operations and event execution.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
Experience: At least one year of experience in public assembly facility management, athletics facility operations, venue management, or building operations is required. Supervisory experience managing full-time and part-time employees is preferred. Experience overseeing maintenance, custodial operations, technical production, purchasing, vendor management, and event operations is preferred.
Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, leadership ability, and organizational skills are required. Skill in Microsoft Office and facility scheduling software is required. Knowledge of facility operations, preventative maintenance practices, event operations, building systems, purchasing, inventory management, and vendor coordination is preferred. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and customer service skills are required. The ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to unexpected operational situations is required.
Other: The scope of the position requires frequent evening, weekend, and holiday work and the ability to respond to facility emergencies outside normal business hours.
