Job description

Assistant Facility Manager -Operations position responsible for assisting Facility Manager in overseeing all facility operations and to include responsibilities for employee relations, discipline, safety, training, record keeping, and company policy compliance.

Our facility operators manage our customers' needs by loading, unloading, and transferring chemicals to/from barges, tanks and railcars. The position works in the tank farm with other operators as a team to produce, process, ensure quality, and load/unload materials directly to our customers. Please do not apply if you are looking for an office-based job. We need people who enjoy being outside in a variety of weather conditions so that we as a team can better serve our customers.
Assistant Facility Manager Job Duties:
  • Oversees terminal maintenance, heat trace system, housekeeping and documentation / records up keep as directed by the Facility Manager.
  • Ensure safe and efficient handling of trucks, barges, and railcars.
  • Delegate facility employee work assignments as directed by Facility Manager.
  • Assist Facility Manager in maintaining training manuals, identifying employee training regulatory requirements, and maintaining records.
  • Implements the on-the-job training program for facility personnel, as appropriate to include the evaluation of tasks and skills.
  • Schedule facility safety and refresher training meetings on a regular basis.
  • Assist Facility Manager in shift scheduling, overtime scheduling and employee concerns or issues.
  • Oversee operation of facility in absence of Facility Manager and assume his responsibilities.
  • Assist in disciplinary problems (absenteeism, tardiness, etc.)
  • Monitor terminal operations (example: heater and boiler reports, tank temperatures).
  • Complete daily paper work, and distribute per distribution list.
  • Know how to perform required laboratory tests for certification of products.
  • Coordinate with sales on barge scheduling, inventory, blending and special projects.
  • Communicate with Coast Guard concerning barge arrivals and transfers.
  • Ensure outside contractors meet standards as established by Local, State, Federal or corporate agencies or groups.
  • Any other duties or tasks as may be assigned by Management.

Operator Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED, good math skills, and possess leadership qualities.
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of all facility operations in every facet
  • General knowledge of safety and environmental regulations on local, state,
    federal, and company levels
