Job description

A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a Senior Manager of Engineering - Energy Parks, you will lead and develop engineering teams responsible for designing and delivering some of the industry's most complex and innovative energy infrastructure projects. A typical day involves providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, collaborating with project teams and owner representatives, reviewing engineering deliverables, and helping drive engineering strategies across integrated energy campus developments.
You'll work closely with engineering, estimating, procurement, construction, and project management teams to ensure designs are reliable, constructible, cost-effective, and aligned with client expectations. Projects may include gas generation facilities, solar energy, wind energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, transmission infrastructure, utility interconnections, renewable energy systems, and data center support infrastructure.
STEP INTO THE ROLE
  • Company program engineering representative during owner project definition and estimating phase. As the company engineering manager, responsibility will include interactions with transmission utility, solar, wind, and BESS industry manufacturers and equipment providers, to establish long-lasting relationships.
  • Lead engineering efforts supporting the development and execution of large-scale Energy Parks and integrated energy campus projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for multidisciplinary engineering teams, including electrical, mechanical, controls, civil, and structural disciplines.
  • Guide engineering strategy, design development, constructability reviews, risk identification, and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Determine how clients and the energy market are evolving on design tends, philosophy, and criteria on power plant design, Blattner Energy must understand client design criteria and intent.
  • Will travel to Client office and/or project sites as required to foster client relationships, idea propagation, and problem solving.
  • Build an understanding of the strategic dynamics that are essential to the current markets of the company.
  • Ensure projects are designed and constructed in compliance with all applicable and prudent industry safety standards.
  • Technical experts will support EHA and ESP update and keep relevant with the Risk Management department.
  • Develop and implement consistent policies, standards, and procedures for engineering management; specifically, regarding engineering design basis utilized by Company. Implement guardrails specifically to design philosophy and criteria within company programs.
  • Stay current on new technologies and industry practices. Seek opportunities to add value to projects with application of best available technology for specific projects. Perform economic analysis / value engineering to determine cost effective solutions and prepare recommendations to procurement team.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Four-year Engineering degree and at least eight years of transmission, substations, solar, wind, and BESS; or eight years of civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering experiences.
  • Registered professional engineering license required.

WHAT SETS YOU APART
  • Experience supporting integrated energy infrastructure projects that combine multiple technologies such as gas generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), substations, transmission, renewable energy, and data center infrastructure.
  • Utility-scale power generation experience, including combined cycle, gas turbine, or other dispatchable generation facilities.
