Position Summary

Universal Electrical Service, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Senior Electrical Estimator to join our growing team. The Senior Electrical Estimator/Project Manager will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects. This role works closely with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to develop comprehensive bids that support the company's commitment to quality, safety, and dependability.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, construction practices, labor productivity, material pricing, and project scheduling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review project plans, specifications, drawings, and bid documents.
  • Perform detailed electrical takeoffs and quantity surveys.
  • Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
  • Prepare competitive bid proposals and project budgets.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Analyze project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field operations, and leadership teams during bid preparation.
  • Maintain estimating databases, pricing resources, and historical cost information.
  • Assist with change order pricing and project cost analysis.
  • Ensure estimates comply with applicable electrical codes, project specifications, and company standards.
  • Support design-build and negotiated project opportunities.
  • Track bid results and provide post-bid analysis to improve estimating accuracy.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of electrical estimating experience in commercial and/or industrial construction.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and industrial installations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Experience with estimating software such as Accubid, McCormick, ConEst, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of NEC requirements and industry standards.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
