Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Secondary Electrical Estimator/Project Manager to support our commercial estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive bids for electrical construction projects. This role is ideal for an estimator with experience in commercial electrical systems who is looking to further develop their estimating and preconstruction expertise while working alongside senior estimators and project stakeholders.

The Secondary Estimator/Project Manager will assist with quantity takeoffs, vendor and subcontractor pricing, bid preparation, cost analysis, and project handoff activities. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of commercial electrical construction practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from construction drawings, specifications, and other bid documents.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review plans and specifications to identify scope requirements, exclusions, and potential risks.
  • Maintain accurate estimating databases, labor units, and historical cost information.
  • Support the preparation of bid proposals, value engineering options, and scope clarifications.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field personnel, and senior estimators during project turnover.
  • Assist with change order pricing and budget development when needed.
  • Monitor bid schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Stay current on market pricing, industry trends, and commercial electrical codes and standards.
QualificationsRequired
  • 2–5 years of experience in commercial electrical construction, estimating, project engineering, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, controls, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred
  • Experience with estimating software such as Accubid, Procure, CAD or/and similar platforms.
