Job description

VP of Finance

We are currently seeking a VP of Finance to be part of our Corporate Division in our West Palm Beach, FL office.

WGI is a national design and professional services firm headquartered in West Palm Beach, Florida, with 500+ associates serving infrastructure-focused clients across Surface Transportation, Water Resources, Buildings, Land Development, and Geospatial markets. WGI is a technology-forward firm, having recently completed a strategic partnership with First Reserve, a leading private equity firm, and operating Streamline Technologies, our software subsidiary leading flood‑intelligence innovation.

WGI is in a high‑growth phase — active M&A pipeline, increased lender and sponsor reporting requirements, multi‑divisional operational complexity, and an evolving incentive and capital‑allocation framework. We are creating the VP of FP&A role to be a true second‑in‑command on the finance side: a strategic operator who can own corporate‑level forecasting, M&A modeling and diligence, lender and board reporting, and the operating cadence that connects the divisions to enterprise performance.

This is a builder role with executive visibility. The right candidate will partner closely with the CFO, the CEO, Division Leaders, First Reserve, and the Board to translate strategy into numbers and numbers into action.

At WGI, you will find talented, passionate associates providing exceptional service in collaborative, team‑driven environments, all while having fun and enjoying the work they do. We work to stay ahead of the curve by investing in the latest tools and technology. As one of the nation’s top consulting firms, we consistently strive to promote efficiency, cultivate a culture our associates can proudly embrace, and empower our associates to advance their career growth at WGI, and beyond.

WGI offers a complete Benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD & STD, Life Insurance, 401k with match, PTO, Holidays, HSA with company contribution, Pet insurance, and an Employee assistance program.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the corporate financial planning process — annual budget, multi‑year plan, and rolling re‑forecasts — in partnership with the CFO and Division Leaders.
  • Drive the financial workstream of WGI’s 3‑Year Strategic Plan refresh, including the joint planning session with First Reserve.
  • Build and maintain the enterprise long‑range model: capital allocation, organic vs. inorganic growth scenarios, capacity planning, and return‑on‑invested‑capital views by division.
  • Support strategic decisions with crisp scenario analysis: what‑ifs on division mix, geographic expansion, capital structure, and major investments.
M&A Modeling, Diligence & Integration
  • Serve as the internal day‑to‑day project manager on M&A execution, coordinating between internal functional groups and external diligence providers.
  • Take ownership of financial due diligence – Quality of Earnings, financial diligence, working‑capital analyses, run‑rate normalization, and management presentations – with external advisors and internal stakeholders.
  • Build and own accretion/dilution models, sources‑and‑uses, returns and IRR analyses, capital‑structure scenarios, and synergy cases for each opportunity.
  • Collaborate with Chief Strategy Officer to monitor M&A pipeline.
  • Translate LOIs and term sheets into board‑ready economic summaries and own the economic integration of completed deals: synergy capture tracking, earn‑out economics, KPI alignment, and 100‑day financial milestones.
PE‑Backed Reporting: Sponsor, Lender & Board
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly reporting pack for the CFO, CEO, Board, and First Reserve — the executive summary, divisional scorecards, variance and forecast narrative, liquidity and backlog/bookings commentary, and HR/headcount views.
  • Drive covenant compliance reporting and forward‑looking cushion analysis; flag risks early and propose corrective levers.
  • Prepare quarterly board materials, including variance commentary, divisional deep‑dives, capital‑allocation updates, and forward forecast walks.
  • Serve as the primary FP&A interface with First Reserve, lender groups, external auditors, and the Board’s Audit/Finance committee.
  • Continuously raise the bar on the quality, timeliness, and analytical depth of investor‑grade financial reporting.
Operational FP&A & Divisional Performance
  • Partner with Division Leaders across Transportation, Civil/PLACE, Geospatial, and Buildings to drive accountability on NSR, utilization, multiplier, labor variance, pre‑allocation profit, and EBITDA.
  • Be the analytical owner of WGI’s operating cadence — monthly business reviews, project‑economics deep‑dives, DSO/working‑capital trends, and pricing/multiplier discipline.
  • Leverage BST and WGI’s PowerBI infrastructure to deliver decision‑grade dashboards; partner with the BI team on the ongoing PowerBI rebuild and the ML revenue‑forecasting models in test across all four divisions.
  • Co‑own the Incentive Compensation Program (ICP) financial mechanics with HR and the CFO: bonus pool modeling, the Company Performance Modifier, target‑setting analytics, and year‑end true‑up.
  • Partner with Streamline finance leadership on the software‑business P&L.
Team Building & Function Maturity
  • Build out the FP&A function: hire, mentor, and develop analyst‑level talent as the firm scales.
  • Establish standard processes, templates, and tooling that scale with the business.
  • Champion continuous improvement and selective automation — working alongside WGI’s AI‑enablement initiatives — to reduce manual data validation and accelerate insight delivery.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance or transaction services experience, with a meaningful portion in FP&A leadership at a sponsor‑backed, multi‑site, multi‑division operating company; AEC, professional services, or project‑based businesses preferred.
  • Demonstrated M&A track record: financial modeling, diligence, negotiation support, and post‑close integration across multiple completed transactions — ideally in a programmatic acquirer environment.
  • Direct experience with PE sponsor reporting, lender covenant management, and board‑grade financial communications.
  • Advanced financial modeling fluency — three‑statement, working‑capital, and operational driver models — with the discipline and version control of a transaction professional.
  • Working command of project‑based accounting and KPIs: utilization, multiplier, labor variance, NSR‑to‑GSR, pre‑allocation profit, EBITDAB.
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP/PSA systems (BST a plus; comparable systems acceptable) and BI tooling (Power BI strongly preferred).
Strongly Preferred
  • Prior experience standing up or maturing an FP&A function in a fast‑growing PE‑backed business.
  • Direct experience with infrastructure, engineering, design, or government‑services end markets.
  • Exposure to software/SaaS economics (ARR, gross margin, unit economics) given Streamline’s role in the platform.
  • Familiarity with incentive compensation design and execution at scale.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over the sponsorship of employment visas.
