Position: Girls Varsity Basketball Assistant Coach
Location: Chestnut Hill, MA 02467
Season: November 9, 2026 - March 12, 2027
Compensation: $7,000-$9,000 Stipend

About the Role

Beaver Country Day School is seeking a passionate, energetic, and experienced Girls Varsity Basketball Assistant Coach to join our successful Upper School athletics program for the 2026-2027 winter season.

This is an outstanding opportunity to help build upon the strong tradition of excellence within Beaver's girls basketball program while mentoring and developing student-athletes both on and off the court. We are looking for a coach who is committed to player development, competitive excellence, and fostering a positive, team-first culture.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and leading engaging, competitive practices.
  • Help develop individual player skills, basketball IQ, and team strategies.
  • Support game preparation, scouting, and in-game coaching.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable team environment.
  • Build meaningful relationships with student-athletes while serving as a positive mentor and role model.
  • Encourage sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth.
  • Assist with program operations, including equipment, communication, and team logistics.
  • Collaborate with the coaching staff and athletic department to support the continued success of the program.
  • Help attract and retain student-athletes interested in joining Beaver's basketball program.
Schedule
  • Season: November 9, 2026 - March 12, 2027
  • Practices: Monday-Friday
    • Typically 3:45 PM - 5:30 PM
    • Varsity practices may extend later on certain days.
  • Weekend Commitment:
    • Saturday practices throughout the season.
  • Games:
    • Approximately 2-3 games per week
    • Around 25 games during the season.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of basketball coaching experience and/or competitive playing experience at the collegiate or high school level.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, player development, and team strategy.
  • Ability to plan and lead engaging, challenging, and well-organized practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Passion for mentoring high school student-athletes in a positive and meaningful way.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the Head Coach, athletic department, and school community.
  • Previous varsity coaching experience is preferred.
  • Ability to recruit and attract prospective student-athletes to Beaver Country Day School is a plus.
Compensation
  • Competitive seasonal stipend of $7,000-$9,000, based on experience and qualifications.
