Job description

Position: Head Boys’ Basketball Coach

Location: Mitchell High School Mitchell, IN


Mitchell Community Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered leader to serve as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Mitchell High School. Mitchell High School is a Class 2A basketball program with an enrollment of approximately 400 students and is a member of the Patoka Lake Athletic Conference (PLAC) which includes: Springs Valley, Paoli, Crawford County, West Washington, Perry Central, Orleans and Mitchell


The candidate should support the development of a strong K–12 boys basketball program throughout the corporation.


Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and oversight for the Mitchell Boys Basketball program.

• Support and collaborate with youth and junior high basketball programs to promote vertical alignment in skill development and program culture.

• Work collectively with all athletic programs to support multi-sport participation and promote a positive, unified athletic culture.

• Organize and supervise practices, contests, youth camps, and off-season programming.

• Promote academic achievement and positive citizenship among student-athletes.

• Communicate effectively with players, parents, staff, administration, and community members.

• Ensure compliance with all IHSAA rules and school corporation policies.


Qualifications:

• Varsity-level coaching experience is preferred but not required.

• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, systems, and long-term player development.

• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community members.

• Appropriate licensure or certification as required by the State of Indiana.

• Completion of all required background checks and coaching certifications.
