Contractor Job Description: Workday Integration Developer
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, test, and deploy Workday integrations using the full toolset: Workday Orchestrate, Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and custom web service integrations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions across Finance and HCM modules.
  • Translate functional requirements into technical integration designs, documenting field mappings, transformation logic, and data flows.
  • Develop and maintain complex orchestration flows in Orchestrate to coordinate multi-step, multi-system processes.
  • Build transformation-heavy integrations in Workday Orchestrate and Studio.
  • Create formatted reports and document outputs using BIRT; ensure all technical requirements for BIRT reports are classified appropriately as enhancements.
  • Configure and expose custom reports as web services via RaaS and consume them in downstream integrations.
  • Develop API-based integrations using Workday SOAP and REST web services, including authentication and error management.
  • Implement automated data validation and reconciliation processes between Workday and downstream systems to guarantee data integrity.
  • Enforce strict API governance by prioritizing incremental ingestion methods to optimize performance and minimize costs.
  • Deliver integrations across both HCM and Financials.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of Workday integration development experience.
  • Demonstrated delivery across both Workday HCM and Workday Financials.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Orchestrate, Studio, BIRT, EIB, Workday APIs (SOAP/REST), Extend, and RaaS.
  • Solid understanding of Workday's integration security model, calculated fields, and custom reporting.
  • Expertise in enforcing the principle of least privilege for Integration System Users (ISUs).
  • Proficiency with XML, XSLT, XPath, and web service standards.
  • Proven ability to conduct rigorous regression testing in Sandbox environments to ensure stability during Workday’s bi-annual updates.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Higher ed experience preferred.
