The Department of Chemistry at Knox College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Chemistry beginning September 1, 2025. We seek candidates with a focus on Analytical Chemistry. Candidates with expertise in closely related fields to Analytical Chemistry with a focus on chemical instrumentation--such as experimental physical chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, geochemistry, astrochemistry, metrology--are encouraged to apply.

The position involves a six-course teaching load (typically two courses in each of three 10-week terms) that includes courses in analytical chemistry, upper-level chemical instrumentation, and general chemistry with associated laboratories. Establishing a research program that involves undergraduates is expected. Faculty are supported by an active professional development program and substantial institutional resources. (https://www.knox.edu/offices/faculty-affairs) Professional development opportunities for the candidate include mentoring in teaching and undergraduate research in a supportive community of six full-time faculty in the chemistry department, a stockroom manager/chemical hygiene officer, and a laboratory coordinator/radiation safety officer.
Knox offers BA and BS degrees in chemistry and biochemistry (~17 majors/year). The ACS-certified chemistry program has excellent instrumentation. Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field by the start date (September 1, 2025) is required. Post-doctoral research or teaching experience are desirable.
