Job description

The Applications Engineer plays a key role across Sales, Marketing, and Engineering to support the growth of TMC's industry-leading vibration control solutions. This highvisibility position is ideal for an Engineering or Physical Science professional seeking to contribute directly to strategic, customerfocused technical initiatives at our Peabody, MA headquarters. The role offers significant opportunity for professional development within a crossfunctional, fastpaced environment.
 
Responsibilities
  • Respond to domestic and international customer inquiries with timely, professional commercial and technical guidance.
  • Analyze customer technical data to understand application needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Represent TMC at 2-3 trade shows per year.
  • Serve as a key interface across customers, field sales, service, marketing, production, and engineering.
  • Define and document special product configurations based on customer requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations, quotations, bid packages, and proposals.
  • Utilize Salesforce.com to track inquiries, manage leads, close opportunities, generate quotes, forecast revenue, and support sales/marketing analyses.
  • Generate and price special configurations; prepare written quotations and conduct quote followup activities.
  • Collect voiceofcustomer insights and market intelligence to support product development and competitive positioning.
  • Travel to customer sites to present proposals, resolve technical issues, and assist with closing orders.
  • Review customer purchase orders and support customer service to manage timelines, ship dates, and priorities.
  • Assist in developing application notes, case studies, technical literature, and digital content including videos and webinars.
  • Prepare and participate in training and education programs on product capabilities and applications.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication with customers and internal teams.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in an Engineering discipline or Physical Science.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in technical sales or engineering.
  • Strong sales skills and entrepreneurial drive.
  • Ability to quickly learn vibration control products, their design, operation, and limitations.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fastpaced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% domestically and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BSME or B.S. in Physics.
  • Experience in vibration measurement or control.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM platforms.
  • Experience with optical or electron microscopy, semiconductor equipment, materials research, or cell biology.
