Position Description:
CGI Federal is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Front End Developer with expertise in Angular to join our innovative team. As a Front End Developer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining dynamic web applications, ensuring seamless integration with backend services, and optimizing performance and security.
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA or Lafayette, LA or Knoxville, TN office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Drive Frontend Modernization: Lead the migration of legacy Angular codebases to modern standards, implementing standalone components, signals, and the latest framework features to reduce technical debt.
Architect Greenfield Features: Design and implement scalable, high performance user interfaces from the ground up, ensuring architectural alignment with long term product goals.
Optimize Client Side Performance:
Conduct deep performance profiling to identify bottlenecks in rendering and execution.
Optimize change detection strategies and reduce initial bundle sizes via advanced lazy loading and tree shaking.
Refactor complex components to improve maintainability and scalability.
Implement Reactive State Management:
Design and maintain sophisticated state management architectures using NgRx or Angular Signals.
Develop complex asynchronous data streams utilizing advanced RxJS patterns for real time data handling.
Styling & UI Excellence:
Build responsive, accessible, and visually polished interfaces using Tailwind CSS and SCSS.
Extend and customize component libraries (e.g., Angular Material) to meet specific brand and usability requirements.
Technical Coaching & Communication:
Mentor junior developers through detailed code reviews and pair programming.
Translate complex technical challenges into clear, actionable explanations for non technical stakeholders.
Document architectural decisions and create guidelines for frontend best practices.

Minimum 3 6 years of professional software development experience with a heavy focus on the Angular ecosystem.
Core Technical Proficiency:
Angular (Expert level) Deep understanding of the framework's lifecycle, dependency injection, and routing.
TypeScript (Expert level) Strong command of advanced types, generics, and decorators.
RxJS Proficiency in creating and managing complex observable streams and avoiding memory leaks.
State Management Mastery:
Hands on experience with NgRx, Elf, or Angular Signals to manage global and local application state.
Modern Frontend Tooling:
Expertise in modern CSS frameworks, specifically Tailwind CSS and SCSS.
Proficiency with Angular Material or similar UI libraries.
Testing Frameworks:
Proven experience with VITest, Jest, or Cypress for full spectrum application testing.
Software Engineering Fundamentals:
Strict adherence to SOLID principles and clean code practices.
Knowledge of design patterns (Factory, Strategy, Observer, etc.) applied to frontend architecture.
Experience with Git based version control and collaborative branching strategies.
Communication & Mentorship:
Demonstrated ability to coach other developers and explain complex technical concepts simply.

Cutting Edge Angular: Experience with Angular 19+ features (Signals, Deferrable Views, etc.).

Accessibility: Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 compliance for web applications.
Backend Integration: Experience collaborating with Spring Boot or similar RESTful API architectures.
