Job description

Manager, Airline Support Engineering
What You Will Do
  • Lead and actively participate in managing an engineering team responsible for providing structural, mechanical, electrical, and powerplant repair services for aircraft and components.
  • Review and approve damage assessments and repair designs while ensuring full regulatory compliance. Maintain current knowledge of FAA Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and applicable OEM Service Bulletins, and ensure proper incorporation into engineering documentation and processes.
  • Serve as the primary engineering liaison to the FAA, designees, and aircraft customers.
  • Support organizational growth through business development and continuous improvement initiatives, including customer presentations, proposal development for aircraft engineering services, and industry or business partnerships.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and guidance to engineering staff to maximize professional development, engagement, and productivity.
  • Establish departmental KPIs and performance goals that align engineering contributions with organizational objectives.
  • Drive process improvements that enhance the effectiveness of the engineering department and the broader Airborne organization.
What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Program or project management experience with demonstrated strategic planning capabilities.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of combined airline, MRO, or OEM engineering experience.
  • Experience working directly with or interfacing with the FAA (or authorized designees) on engineering-related projects.
  • Demonstrated organizational leadership with strong team-building and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, and regulatory authorities at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across departments and external organizations.
  • Proven planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, assign, and coordinate workloads in a multi-project environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, databases, email, and web-based tools.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or a comparable desktop drafting application.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification and/or LEAN process training, with hands-on experience in a heavy maintenance environment for transport-category or regional jet aircraft.
  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) certification.
  • Advanced degree or formal training in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a specialized engineering discipline.
  • Formal management training or prior people-management experience.
