About the Role
The Director, Risk Management provides strategic leadership for KBR's global insurance and risk management programs, helping protect enterprise value, reduce financial volatility, and strengthen the company's overall risk posture. This role is responsible for the governance, execution, and continuous enhancement of KBR's risk management framework, including insurance procurement, claims management, captive insurance operations, and insured claims handling.
As a highly visible leader, the Director partners with executive leadership, business divisions, brokers, underwriters, clients, regulatory agencies, and legal counsel to drive risk-related decisions across the organization. - Captive Insurance Management: Direct the strategic management and governance of the captive insurance company, including regulatory compliance, financial performance, claims oversight, and reporting to senior leadership.
- Claims Oversight: Provide executive oversight of insured claims management, including complex and litigated matters, partnering with legal counsel, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to mitigate financial exposure and drive favorable outcomes.
- Contract Risk Review: Evaluate and advise on risk-related contractual provisions, including insurance, indemnification, and risk of loss terms.
- Specialty Insurance Placement: Lead placement strategy and oversight for project-specific, country-specific, and specialty insurance programs supporting KBR's global operations.
- Regulatory & Audit Support: Ensure timely, accurate, and effective responses to regulatory, audit, and government agency requests while maintaining compliance with corporate and statutory requirements.
- Policy & Process Improvement: Establish and champion risk management policies, governance standards, and operational processes that align with industry best practices and enterprise objectives.
- Program Enhancement: Identify and implement innovative risk financing solutions, technologies, and services that strengthen KBR's overall risk management framework.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor insurance market trends, emerging risks, regulatory developments, and claims patterns to proactively influence risk management strategy.
- Team Leadership & Development: Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and talent development while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Planning & Prioritization: Direct departmental strategy, budgeting, workforce planning, and resource allocation to achieve organizational objectives and optimize risk management investments.
- Strategic Support: Act as a strategic advisor to the Treasurer and executive leadership team on enterprise risk matters, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate initiatives.
- Enterprise Leadership & Governance: Represent the Risk Management function in executive-level discussions, providing strategic guidance on risk exposure, risk financing, and enterprise-wide risk mitigation initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Insurance/Risk Management, or a related field required.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate risk management and insurance leadership within multinational organizations.
- Demonstrated experience leading a corporate risk management function and influencing executive-level decision making.

- Experience leading, coaching, and developing teams to drive performance and engagement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well as collaboration and document tools (Teams, SharePoint, Adobe/PDF) and enterprise systems such as Costpoint.
