Summary
Under limited direction, plans, manages, administrates, and directs the daily activities for a recreational complex to ensure maximum use and enjoyment by the community; develop partnerships; seek and writes grants; and performs related duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Which are not in any hierarchical order)
1.Develops, implements, and initiates strategic planning, long and short-term goals and objectives to meet the need for diverse recreational programs and services.
2.Coordinates programming and services delivered to the public.
3.Develops and implements volunteer recruitment, training and recognition programs to support the activities of the complex.
4.Assumes full supervisory responsibilities for all personnel and facilities at the complex.
5.Develops, administers and monitors the budget for all contracts, financial negotiations, programs and projects.
6.Develops, coordinates, administers, advertises and promotes all recreation complex programs and services.
7.Conducts special events, programs, and projects for effective public relations and community education.
8.Assists with setup/breakdown for events and programs and facility maintenance duties, as required.
9.Performs other related duties as assigned.
Salary
Depending on qualifications the starting salary for this position will be in the range of (Pay Grade 61):
$64,827 - $81,040 Annually

Qualifications
Bachelors degree with a major in Recreation, Business Administration, or related field (education will be verified using the Education Requirements listed below) and three (3) years of related experience is required, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. One (1) year of lead work or supervisory experience is required.
Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certification are required, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of employment. Successful completion of a 40-hour Introductory Child Care Training Course from the Florida Department of Children and Families is required, or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days from date of employment.
A current and valid Florida CDL Class B drivers license with air brakes, and the Pendorsement is required. For application purposes, a valid drivers license from any state or a State of Florida Class E drivers license may be utilized; with the ability to obtain a Florida CDL Class B drivers license with air brakes and the Pendorsement within six (6) months from date of employment.
Education Requirements : To be considered valid (or verified) for position qualification purposes, and consistent with City Hiring Policy 4-5, a High School, GED or equivalent diploma, and all higher education degrees or certifications must have been issued by:
a) a public education institution in the State of Florida or any State or Territory of the United States; or
b) an institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by the Florida Department of Education or the U.S. Department of Education; or
c) an institution that is accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); or
d) an institution whose degree or certification is accepted by institutions identified in either a, b or c above for the purpose of admission to institutions identified in either a, b, or c above.
International degrees will be evaluated to determine if they satisfy qualification requirements.
Special Driving Requirements:
Have not lost any driving privileges by reason of revocation, suspension or denial of license, or have been convicted and/or had an adjudication withheld of three or more moving violations or,
Havenot hadone DUI (Driving Under the Influence) in any preceding twenty-four (24) month period. License suspension of two weeks or less or suspensions based only on non-moving violations that have been cleared will not automatically result in revocation of driving privileges.
Have not had more than one DUI (conviction or adjudication withheld) in Florida or any other state within the past ten (10) years.

Level II Background from the State of Florida is required.
The selection process for this position may consist of any, all or a combination of the following tests: evaluation of training and experience, written examination, structured oral interview or other assessment method.
State of Emergency: When normal operations of City departments are suspended or interrupted due to a declaration by the Mayor that a state of emergency exists, all employees will be deemed critical by the City. For the preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail, employees deemed necessary shall be required to work. Employees deemed critical by the City but not needed for the initial preparation and/or continuation of emergency operations or for special work detail may be directed not to report to work, and given paid administrative leave or they may be reassigned to another location that best meet the needs of the City.
The City of West Palm Beach allows remote work assignments for certain job classifications and under certain conditions in accordance with Remote Work Policy 4-20.
