Our client seeks a Financial Business Analyst to analyze and validate automated surveillance systems across multiple asset classes and regulatory domains. The role will reverse-engineer pattern logic, manage knowledge documentation, and lead UAT and release validation. The analyst will leverage generative AI to accelerate analysis, testing, and documentation while ensuring regulatory accuracy. The engagement is a contract position with hybrid work in Tysons Corner, VA.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and validate automated surveillance patterns across regulatory domains and asset classes.
  • Reverse-engineer pattern source code and document data pipelines, business rules, exception logic, and output schemas.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of surveillance patterns and perform requirements-to-code gap analysis.
  • Lead UAT and release validation, including production versus UAT comparisons and multi-scenario test design.
  • Build local testing environments and frameworks for rapid verification before deployment.
  • Write complex SQL queries to support investigations and exception analysis.
  • Perform firm-level statistical analysis and produce management reports.
  • Develop automation tools for ticket management, release documentation, and workflow optimization.
  • Create data visualizations and comparison reports with interactive summaries and differentials.
  • Leverage generative AI for code comprehension, documentation, test frameworks, and comparison reports while validating outputs for regulatory accuracy.
  • Manage work across project tracking boards and coordinate release activities and UAT sign-offs.
  • Draft and update Business Requirements Documents for surveillance enhancements.
  • Support special projects and mentor less experienced analysts.
  • Monitor industry practices, regulatory changes, and emerging AI tooling.
Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in financial regulatory technology, surveillance systems, or capital markets data analysis.
  • Strong SQL proficiency for large-scale data analysis on distributed platforms.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language for analysis, automation, and tool development.
  • Experience interpreting complex data processing pipelines and business logic in source code.
  • Ability to independently investigate data discrepancies and validate system outputs.
  • Excellent documentation skills to translate technical implementations into business-facing content.
  • Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets for business and operational analysis.
  • Preferred: Major in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
