Compensation & Work Environment

The Role

This Lead LOS Configuration Engineer position focuses on logic, problem solving, and managing the operational core of a complex mortgage technology platform. You will own the rules, workflows, and system behaviors that keep a distributed ecosystem running reliably, spanning loan origination systems, cloud based workflows, business rules engines, and third party integrations. You will bridge Operations, Compliance, Product, and Engineering, translating business and regulatory needs into correct, versioned, supportable configurations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a cross functional LOS Configuration team, owning the configuration backlog and release coordination
  • Manage configurations for Blue Sage and related lending systems, including loan programs, fees, disclosures, and conditions
  • Design deterministic business rules using Drools or comparable systems, and reverse engineer existing workflows to recommend improvements
  • Use SQL, Groovy, or Java to investigate production behavior and resolve integration discrepancies
  • Diagnose failures and workflow dependencies across distributed cloud platforms, ensuring compliance with TRID, fee tolerances, and disclosure timing

AI Assisted Development, Required and Non Negotiable

This organization operates on an AI first development model. Candidates must:

  • Utilize AI tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor daily for configuration analysis, rule development, scripting, and troubleshooting
  • Decompose complex tasks into well structured prompts and agentic tasks
  • Critically review, test, and harden all AI generated output before deploying to a production lending environment
  • Demonstrate measurable productivity gains from AI tools during the interview process via a live paired exercise

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 7+ years in mortgage technology, with 4+ years of hands on LOS configuration, workflow design, or platform engineering
  • 2+ years leading a technical operations or business systems team with delivery ownership
  • Hands on expertise with enterprise business rules management systems such as Drools, and strong SQL skills
  • Deep knowledge of the mortgage lifecycle, including pricing, underwriting, closing, and funding, and associated regulatory compliance
  • Daily, demonstrable use of AI assisted development tools

Preferred Experience

  • Implementation or administration experience with Blue Sage, Encompass, Empower, MeridianLink, or DataTrac
  • Advanced capabilities in Drools optimization and scripting languages like Groovy or Java
  • Experience with AWS (Step Functions, Lambda, EventBridge) and Azure
  • Hands on experience with MISMO 3.4 migrations and ARM or Non QM program setup
