What does a makeup manager do?

A Makeup Manager is responsible for overseeing makeup artists and coordinating all makeup-related activities for productions, events, or retail environments. They manage schedules, ensure quality standards, and communicate with clients or production teams to meet specific makeup needs. Additionally, they may handle inventory, train new staff, and keep up with current trends in makeup artistry. Their role is crucial for ensuring a seamless and professional makeup experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a makeup manager?

To thrive as a Makeup Manager, you need expertise in makeup artistry, team leadership, and retail management, typically supported by a cosmetology license or relevant certification. During the event, they coordinate a team of makeup artists, manage time-sensitive touch-ups, and adapt quickly to last-minute changes.
