Fright Fest Makeup Artist

Wild Waves Theme amp; Waterpark

Position Summary

Wild Waves Theme amp; Waterpark is seeking talented, creative, and detail-oriented Makeup Artists to join our Fright Fest team. Makeup Artists play a critical role in creating an immersive and terrifying guest experience by transforming scare actors into frightening characters using professional makeup techniques, special effects, and prosthetics.

This is a fast-paced, high-energy role that requires creativity, efficiency, and strong collaboration with performers, costume teams, and event leadership.


Key Responsibilities
  • Apply theatrical and special effects makeup to Fright Fest performers based on established character designs and creative direction

  • Use airbrushing, face paint, prosthetics, FX materials, and other techniques to create realistic and themed looks

  • Work from character sheets, concept designs, or supervisor direction to maintain visual consistency across attractions

  • Complete makeup applications efficiently and safely within required timeframes prior to showtime

  • Perform touch-ups and makeup maintenance during operating hours as needed

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of makeup stations, tools, and supplies

  • Sanitize brushes, tools, prosthetics, and makeup products between uses in accordance with health and safety standards

  • Communicate effectively with scare actors, costume teams, and supervisors to coordinate character preparation

  • Assist with teardown, cleanup, and reset of makeup areas at the end of each event night

  • Support overall Fright Fest operations and perform other duties as assigned


Skills, Requirements amp; Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Proven experience in theatrical, SFX, or professional makeup application

  • Strong understanding of skin safety, sanitation, and hygiene practices

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

  • Creative eye for character design, detail, and visual storytelling

  • Comfort working with a variety of textures, prosthetics, and makeup mediums

  • Strong communication, time management, and teamwork skills

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and all scheduled Fright Fest event dates, including Halloween

  • Portfolio or samples of previous makeup work strongly encouraged
