Company Overview
Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.
Role: Manufacturing Test Engineer
Red 6 is seeking a senior Manufacturing Test Engineer to lead development, validation, and deployment of production test systems for complex aerospace electronic assemblies. This role ensures full PCBA, subassembly and system-level test capability at both Red 6 and contract manufacturer sites.
The ideal candidate has deep experience building robust, repeatable, aerospace-grade production test environments.
Key Responsibilities
Production Test Development
  • Work with Test Development teams at Red 6 and contract manufacturers to develop, release and maintain manufacturing tests, scripts, tools and related artifacts
  • Develop PCBA, subassembly, and system-level production test strategies.
  • Define test coverage, acceptance criteria, and failure of reporting standards.
  • Work with Red 6 software development teams to integrate provided test scripts and source code.
  • Work closely with contract manufacturers and document recommended or requested functions, modules, or scripts, identify potential gaps and assure that those are implemented when possible
  • Ensure CMs properly build/compile test software for production use.
  • Develop a plan and required tools for transparency, real time availability of test logs, results, failures for each build activity

Test Infrastructure & Equipment
  • Define specifications for jigs, fixtures, and system-level test racks.
  • Oversee CM development and duplication of test racks at Red 6 and CM sites.
  • Validate test repeatability, reliability, and GR&R performance.
  • Lead environmental, functional, and stress testing validation as required.

CM & Production Support
  • Support test implementation at CM facilities.
  • Troubleshoot test failures and yield issues.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Establish test data collection, traceability, and reporting requirements.

Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure test processes meet DOD, aerospace, and IPC standards.
  • Develop and maintain test procedures, validation reports, and configuration control documentation.
  • Support qualification builds, FAI, and production readiness reviews.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in production test engineering (aerospace/defense preferred).
  • Experience with Python, C/C++, or similar test platforms.
  • Strong background in PCBA and system-level electronic test.
  • Experience developing automated test systems and fixtures.
  • Experience supporting CMs in test implementation.
  • Familiarity with compiling/building test software in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of traceability and production data management.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills.
  • US Citizen (security clearance is a plus).
  • Travel is required to CM facilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD requirements.
  • Experience in environmental and stress screening (ESS/HASS/HALT)

Estimated Base Salary Range:
$128,000 to $168,000 dependent on skills and experience
