Overview

Wieland is hiring an Engineering and Maintenance Development Manager. The Engineering and Maintenance Development Manager will be responsible for leading the improvement of the people and processes in the Engineering and Maintenance Departments in East Alton to advance the execution of the department's mission of championing a reliability culture. Enable our safe, skilled, and engaged workforce to utilize data-driven systems, maintenance technology, and continuous improvement methods, to work as a strategic and tactical partner within Wieland Rolled Products North America. This role is located in East Alton, IL and will be fully on-site.

Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 annually

May be eligible for a variable compensation plan bonus based upon company performance within fiscal year cycle.

Responsibilities

Engineering and Maintenance Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Site Engineering and Maintenance Lead, Maintenance Managers, and Engineering Managers to develop and deploy Asset Management and Reliability Strategies within the East Alton complex.
  • Work to define and implement standard work within the maintenance function.
  • Understand the current technical skill level of incumbent maintenance and engineering employees, identify gaps to desired state, and develop training opportunities to close the gap.
  • Utilize standards and technical skill requirements to develop training program as a path toward non-incumbent employees joining the maintenance team.
  • This role will have the responsibility of program manager for East Alton Maintenance apprenticeship programs.
  • This role will also have responsibility to develop a road map for East Alton engineers to develop the skills to be a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
  • Coach and mentor team to build and maintain the right skills and habits to sustain success
  • Develop and implement a skills matrix with human resources that will drive a training and succession plan.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve operating efficiencies through utilization of lean methodologies.
Engineering and Maintenance Development Manager Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 7-10 years managerial experience
  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance practices using reliability tools such as Pareto analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
  • Ability to communicate and make decisions, adapt to cultural change,and work within a diverse environment. Requires skills to manage conflict, coach, and mentor.
  • Experience as a "strategic" leader as well as a "tactical" leader. Proven ability to develop and manage large budgets.
  • Engineering, Maintenance Reliability project management experience
  • CMRP certification a plus.
  • CMMS experience required. SAP experience a plus.
  • Experience in a union environment implementing change initiatives considered a plus.
