Description

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the assigned Project Manager in the planning, management, direction, project completion, client satisfaction, and financial outcome of assigned self-perform drywall and framing projects. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent to coordinate the successful execution of drywall, metal framing, and acoustical ceiling scopes.


The ideal candidate will assist with project administration, cost control, material procurement, labor coordination, production tracking, scheduling, and project documentation while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.


Leadership and Supervisory

  • Assist the Project Manager and Site Superintendent in managing self-perform drywall and framing operations to meet project schedules, quality requirements, and production goals.

  • Assist with coordinating labor, material, equipment, and other resources required for self-perform work.

  • Implement and support programs related to safety, scheduling, quality, and production monitoring.

  • Coordinate with the Project Manager and Superintendent to identify potential project issues and develop solutions.

  • Work with material suppliers, labor vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to maintain project schedules and production requirements.

  • Communicate effectively with field and office personnel to ensure project information is accurately distributed and maintained.

  • Assist with planning, directing, and coordinating construction management activities across multiple project scopes as required.

  • Maintain a high level of organization while managing multiple priorities and project requirements.


Qualifications and Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in construction management, preferably with commercial, industrial, or federal construction.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a comparable degree preferred.

  • Prior Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer, or construction project coordination experience preferred.

  • Experience with drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, or other self-perform construction is strongly preferred.

  • Working knowledge of construction project budgets, cost tracking, schedules, and project documentation.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, plans, and project documents.

  • Knowledge of construction practices, procedures, materials, and sequencing.

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other project management software.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • High drive to succeed with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

  • Must be open to relocation as project needs require.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Distribute, track, and maintain project plans, specifications, and drawings.

  • Maintain and update submittal registers for self-perform materials and related project requirements.

  • Assist with tracking project budgets, costs, labor, materials, and production.

  • Assist the Project Manager with developing and maintaining project schedules.

  • Coordinate with the Superintendent regarding labor requirements, crew sizes, production goals, and upcoming work.

  • Assist with coordinating material procurement and deliveries to ensure materials are available when needed.

  • Coordinate with labor vendors regarding workforce requirements and documentation.

  • Organize and review labor and material invoices for content and accuracy.

  • Assist with monthly pay applications and Project Status Reports (PSRs).

  • Assist with developing and maintaining Schedule of Values (SOVs).

  • Track quantities and production on a weekly basis.

  • Assist with monitoring labor productivity and project performance against established budgets and production goals.

  • Generate weekly coordination meeting minutes and distribute project information as required.

  • Assist with preparing subcontractor, supplier, and self-perform change orders.

  • Update quantity reports and cost tracking associated with changes in project scope.

  • Assist with estimating drywall, metal framing, and acoustical ceiling scopes as needed.

  • Assist with reviewing drawings and specifications to identify scope changes, material requirements, and potential project issues.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and progress records.

  • Assist with project closeout requirements.

  • Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in maintaining quality and safety requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful completion of self-perform projects.
