POSITION SUMMARYThe Maintenance Superintendent provides site-wide leadership and oversight for mine maintenance, process maintenance, electrical maintenance, and building services. This position is accountable for safe, environmentally responsible, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance execution across the mine site. The Superintendent establishes maintenance strategies, plans, schedules, systems, and work practices that improve equipment reliability and availability, support production goals, optimize resources, control costs, and maintain quality standards. The role works closely with Operations, Process, Safety, Environmental, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Finance, and contractors to resolve operational issues and ensure compliance with Company requirements, mine permits, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory LeadershipChampion a culture in which safety, environmental stewardship, accountability, and continuous improvement are integrated into all maintenance activities.
Understand responsibilities under the Mesquite Mine Emergency Response Plan and support updates to applicable requirements.
Lead and provide content for pre-shift, turnover, planning, biweekly, monthly, and other required safety and maintenance meetings.
Report safety concerns and unsafe conditions; ensure timely corrective and preventive action is taken or appropriate assistance is obtained.
Conduct and document workplace inspections, oversight inspections, hazard assessments, and field-level risk assessments within assigned areas.
Ensure accidents, incidents, and safety concerns are investigated and support the Incident Investigation Committee as needed.
Ensure maintenance work complies with Company procedures, mine permits, applicable laws and regulations, and required lockout/tagout practices.
Maintenance Strategy, Planning, and ReliabilityDevelop and direct site maintenance strategies, policies, annual plans, and long-term plans for mine, process, electrical, plant, and building services maintenance.
Oversee daily, weekly, and long-range maintenance planning and scheduling, including work orders, preventive maintenance, equipment histories, maintenance records, and reporting.
Review equipment status, downtime information, turnover logs, ordered-part status, and other maintenance data to establish priorities and allocate resources.
Expand preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment availability, reduce unplanned downtime, increase reliability, and lower costs.
Coordinate equipment, material, parts, contractor, and personnel requirements with internal departments and suppliers.
Apply technical knowledge of mobile and fixed equipment, industrial mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and utility or plant operations to support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Ensure preventive maintenance scheduling and maintenance execution support production targets and the return of equipment to safe, reliable service.

Ensure departmental compliance with accounting procedures and prepare proposals and obtain approvals for maintenance and capital expenditures.
Plan and execute approved capital projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications.
Monitor and communicate departmental performance, maintenance costs, key performance indicators, equipment availability, work completion, and improvement opportunities to supervisors and management.
Identify, recommend, and implement approved business improvement initiatives.
Maintain effective information exchange with Operations and other departments to address deficiencies, resolve safety and operational issues, and accomplish established goals.
People Leadership and AdministrationLead maintenance supervisors, foremen, planners, trades employees, and contractors so work groups operate as cohesive, coordinated, and goal-directed teams.
Provide clear direction, coaching, and support while modeling Company values through words and actions.
Assess workforce and training needs; oversee the development, delivery, scheduling, and documentation of technical, safety, and regulatory training programs.
Support recruiting, onboarding, employee development, performance feedback, attendance administration, vacation scheduling, timekeeping review, and corrective action in partnership with Human Resources.
Ensure supervisory employees follow applicable employment laws and Company policies and regularly engage Human Resources for counsel and guidance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCEMinimum of 15 years of mining industry experience with an in-depth understanding of open-pit mining operations.
Minimum of 10 years of maintenance leadership or supervisory experience in an open-pit mining environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of mine and process maintenance, including mobile and fixed equipment, industrial mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and utility or plant operations.
Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs, planning and scheduling, work management, budgeting, cost control, capital projects, and equipment reliability.
Ability to interpret maintenance information, establish priorities, coordinate resources, analyze root causes, and communicate performance to employees and management.
Proven ability to lead teams, develop employees, deliver training, collaborate across departments, and address performance or conduct matters consistently and professionally.
Working knowledge of computerized maintenance and operational systems used for work orders, parts status, equipment downtime, timekeeping, and reporting.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONSBachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a mining-related discipline preferred or equivalent work experience.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
SAP Certified Associate Project Manager or Plant Maintenance certification is preferred.
No other certifications are required.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTSSuccessful completion of all required pre-employment screenings.
Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations and Company safety requirements.
WORKING CONDITIONSWork is performed at an active mine site that may include open-pit mining areas, processing facilities, leach pads, maintenance areas, and office environments. Employees may be exposed to extreme desert weather, including high heat, cold temperatures, wind, dust, and occasional precipitation or flash flooding. Work areas may involve proximity to large mobile equipment, moving mechanical parts, blasting activities, noise, vibration, diesel exhaust, chemicals, fuels, oils, airborne particles, or other industrial hazards typical of mining operations. Outdoor work on uneven or rough terrain is common. Employees may encounter desert wildlife and native plant life. Required personal protective equipment must be worn as determined by job duties, task hazards, and work location and may include a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, respiratory protection, and other task‑specific PPE.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe position requires manual dexterity; handling and grasping; fine motor skills; clear speech; hearing within speech, radio, and environmental ranges; reading and comprehension; near and distant vision; and depth perception. Employees must communicate effectively and maintain situational awareness in an active mining environment. Physical activities may include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and working on uneven surfaces. Use of hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, controls, or computer systems is required. Employees may be required to work while wearing required PPE, including respiratory and hearing protection. The salary range for this position is from $111,394.00 to $150,000.00.
