Job description

Employment Type: Salaried

Work Arrangement: Onsite
Position Summary:
Oversees and coordinates all major repairs and/or changes to the facility and/or equipment, including installation, repair and maintaining facility and equipment. Assists in implementation of all capital projects and works with plant engineer as needed. Manages the preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure maximum equipment efficiency.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepares annual maintenance budget using analysis reports from Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system, capital project plans and input from plant engineer and plant manager with regards to future projects and growth
  • Manage daily activities of the maintenance employees, provides development support and training as needed. Develop and implement plans/programs to improve knowledge and training of all maintenance personnel. Maintains rigorous standards for each position in the maintenance function and holds staff responsible for achieving and maintaining those standards including safety
  • Effectively uses all existing maintenance systems and JD Edwards - EAM computer software to manage core maintenance transactions. Works to keep system documentation current and recommends any value added changes as needed
  • Receives, reviews and analyzes the monthly PM, CM and EM activities against downtime report to determine how to improve equipment uptime and efficiencies
  • Maintains an effective maintenance library of SOPs, vendor manuals, process flows and other documentation required for key maintenance activities and equipment. These documents are edited annually
  • Works with engineering manager, plant manager, and headquarter's engineering staff as needed for successful implementation of capital projects
  • Manage department overtime and other costs to budget
  • Comply with and enforce all safety and other company policies and procedures as required. Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Travel may be required

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Management
  • Supervisory and/or managerial experience in a food processing environment preferred

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Basic knowledge of power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics, refrigeration, ammonia and HVAC
  • Knowledgeable in electrical systems and have experience in developing and implementing SOPs
  • Knowledge of plant operations, team building and supervisor development
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with ability to resolve problems
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and an ability to learn other computer-based tools such as CMMS systems
  • Knowledge of food processing equipment is preferred
