Job description

Equation Staffing is currently building a pool of reliable and safety-conscious General Labourers for upcoming industrial and construction projects throughout Fort McMurray and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in flexible, project-based work who are comfortable working in industrial and construction environments.

Location: Fort McMurray / Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, AB
Employment Type: Temporary / Project-Based / Casual
Schedule: Varies by project
Start Dates: Ongoing / Based on Project Requirements

Responsibilities
Depending on the project and worksite, duties may include:
  • Performing general labour and site support duties.
  • Loading, unloading and moving materials, tools and equipment.
  • Assisting skilled trades and site crews as required.
  • Site cleanup, debris removal and maintaining organized work areas.
  • Performing basic material handling and manual labour tasks.
  • Assisting with construction and industrial project activities.
  • Following directions from site supervisors and tradespeople.
  • Following all site-specific safety procedures and requirements.
  • Using basic hand tools when required.
  • Performing other general labour duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Previous general labour, construction or industrial experience is considered an asset.
  • Comfortable performing physically demanding work.
  • Ability to lift and move materials safely throughout the shift.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established safety procedures.
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules depending on project requirements.
  • Must have appropriate PPE as required by the project.

Safety Tickets & Certifications:
Depending on the project or client site, workers may be required to hold one or more of the following current certifications:
  • CSTS.
  • CSO.
  • H2S Alive.
  • Fall Protection.
  • Confined Space.
  • WHMIS.
  • Standard First Aid.
  • Additional site-specific safety certifications.

You do not necessarily need to hold every certification listed above to apply. Required tickets will vary depending on the individual project. Applicants are encouraged to provide details and expiry dates for any current safety certifications they hold.
Assignment Information

Projects may include:
  • Short-term or casual assignments.
  • Shutdown and turnaround support.
  • Several-week assignments.
  • Three-to-six-month projects.
