A maintenance associate is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the equipment needed to run a business. The setting for this job and the duties vary depending on the type of company. In a retail store, you may need to fix lighting and electrical systems, undertake cleaning duties, and install shelving. In a production facility, you need the skills and qualifications to maintain specialized equipment. In this career, your previous experience and training help you decide what setting works best with your skills and knowledge.

To thrive as a Maintenance Associate, you need foundational knowledge in facility maintenance, basic repair techniques, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with hand and power tools, maintenance management systems, and safety protocols is typically required. These skills and qualities are essential to ensure equipment and facilities remain safe, functional, and efficient for daily operations.

What are some typical challenges maintenance associates face, and how can they effectively manage them?

Maintenance Associates often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting unfamiliar equipment, balancing urgent repairs with routine maintenance tasks, and adapting to shifting priorities in busy environments.
