A maintenance mechanic's main task is to ensure that printing machinery and other types of industrial equipment are in optimal working order.
Department Goals, Strategies, and Procedures
  • Follows and supports all departmental procedures and company policies.
  • Establishes personal goals to improve both individual and departmental performance.
  • Contributes to the execution of company goals which, when achieved, support fulfillment of the company vision.

Maintenance & Service
  • The primary responsibility of a maintenance mechanic is to ensure that printing machinery and other industrial equipment operate at optimal efficiency.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens for irregularities to identify causes of malfunction.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Services equipment and other items as assigned.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural components in machinery.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Maintains an ongoing list of miscellaneous maintenance tasks that need to be completed.
  • Sets up and operates equipment and tools to manufacture and repair parts.
  • Uses and reads voltmeters, computers, and tape measures.

Quality Control
  • Activates devices to test their performance.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Examines parts for imperfections in form or texture.
  • Checks and rechecks completed work before returning machinery to service.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments as needed.

Safety
  • Ensures all areas of the plant meet OSHA standards.
  • Knows and follows all safety procedures.
  • Reports work-related injuries to the supervisor.
