The Westlake Group comprised of Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and Westlake Plumbing are seeking full time Plumber Apprentices for residential and light commercial work in central Arkansas. Prior experience in new construction plumbing, residential service plumbing, or drain cleaning is a plus, but not necessary.  A desire to learn, follow directions, complete tasks while accepting constructive critique of workmanship until the job is completed properly, is essential. 
 
The Plumber Apprentice will develop and apply their technical skills and knowledge by attending weekly evening Plumbing Apprenticeship class and completing assigned homework from instructors (4-year program), assist senior level plumbers in performing diagnostic, service, and installation of plumbing in residential and light commercial environments during the week.  Apprentices will ensure that work is performed in accordance with relevant codes, under the direction of licensed senior plumbers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assembling, installing, repairing pipes, fittings, fixtures, water heating equipment, or drainage systems in accordance with plumbing codes and manufacture specifications.  
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Assist licensed plumbers with residential repairs and installations.
  • Assist new construction crew on new home plumbing installation in all phases of construction
  • Participate in all company sponsored training classes. 
  • Maintain a professional image always by: Wearing only company approved apparel. 
  • Follow safety policies and procedures. 
  • Abide by standards of performance and code of ethics. 
  • Maintain a courteous demeanor with all customers and associates. 
  • Maintain company vehicle, ensuring cleanliness and organization, both inside and out. 
  • Always respect the customer’s property. 
Qualifications:  
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. 
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Drug screens can be requested at any time while employed.
  • 1-2 years plumbing or other trade experience. 
  • Desire to learn, ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, 
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs regularly, accessing small and confining spaces of attics, crawlspaces, mechanical areas that require crawling and climbing.
Educational/Certification Requirements
  • GED or High School Diploma is Preferred
  • Apprentice License
 
Environmental Conditions
  • Field service environment. 
  • Exposure to smells associated with sewer and water, sounds associated with power tools.
