Responsibilities:
The Mainframe Developer will support Barrow Wise's State of Illinois project and perform the following duties:
  • Write, test, and debug code
  • Create databases and manage data
  • Collaborate with team members on projects
  • Update and maintain existing programs
  • Work with other departments to gather requirements and define project scope
  • Ensure software applications meet all performance and security standards
  • Research new technologies and software development trends
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting
  • Writing technical documentation
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in Mainframe IMS (Information Management Systems) and MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage)
  • Perform maintenance and project tasks for the Department staff.
  • Perform duties in Springfield, IL.

An ideal candidate has the following:
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related fields such as Accounting or Mathematics, or 6 years of equivalent knowledge, skill, and workplace experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with IMS databases
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with COBOL programming language
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with TSO (Time Sharing Option) utility
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with PANVALET (revision control and source code management system) utilities
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with Microsoft Office
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and transferring data from IMS files into EXCEL spreadsheets.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with analysis and system design
