Job description

*Remote Contract Opportunity*
Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Mainframe Software Engineer (COBOL/Debit Processing) position! This is a 6+ month contract opportunity and will be onsite in Buffalo, NY in the United States. This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services. No C2C arrangements.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provide designs, specifications, and development of new or existing applications.
  • Serve as a principal application designer for major modifications, ensuring solutions are technologically sound.
  • Complete and oversee basic to complex systems analysis, design, and development.
  • Direct and monitor less experienced resources and coordinate development tasks on small to large scope projects.
  • Prepare and manage the technical component of project plans.
  • Participate in overall systems development direction from technical analysis to user acceptance testing.
  • Prepare and review test data, execute detailed test plans, and perform debugging as needed.
  • Prepare thorough, clear technical/functional specifications and update system documentation.
  • Recommend new technology, policies, or processes to improve efficiencies and resolve deficiencies.
  • Ensure adherence to development standards and procedures.
  • Maintain efficient operation of supported applications and provide issue resolution.

What You'll Need to Have:
  • Hands-on experience working in mainframe environments, supporting and maintaining enterprise applications.
  • Strong experience with Retail Banking, Debit Card processing systems and related transaction workflows.
  • Proficiency in COBOL, CICS, JCL, Panvalet and online real-time processing.
  • Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms.
  • Proficient with debit cards, migration and modernization.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with prior experience presenting to stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating between applications and business units.

Pay Range: $55-$70+/hr
