About the Role:

You will lead capacity planning and performance management activities for enterprise z/OS mainframe environments supporting critical financial services workloads. The role focuses on forecasting resource demand, optimizing system performance, and ensuring infrastructure readiness to meet business growth and service-level objectives. You will collaborate with infrastructure, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders to translate workload trends into actionable capacity strategies. Success is measured through system reliability, efficient resource utilization, accurate forecasting, and proactive risk management.

What You Will Be Doing:

Analyze CPU, memory, storage, network, and workload utilization across z/OS environments

Develop short-term and long-term capacity forecasts using historical and predictive analysis techniques

Monitor performance trends and identify risks impacting availability, throughput, and scalability

Create capacity models supporting business growth, application changes, and infrastructure modernization

Partner with engineering and operations teams to optimize system performance and resource utilization

Evaluate workload characteristics and recommend tuning opportunities for improved efficiency

Prepare executive and operational reporting on capacity consumption, trends, and future requirements

Support budget planning through infrastructure demand forecasting and capacity recommendations

Assess the capacity impact of new applications, platform upgrades, and technology initiatives

Maintain capacity planning standards, documentation, metrics, and governance processes

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in information technology, computer science, or a related field

Experience supporting and analyzing IBM z/OS mainframe environments

Strong expertise in capacity planning, performance analysis, and infrastructure forecasting

Proficiency interpreting system performance metrics and workload utilization data

Knowledge of mainframe architecture, processor technologies, storage, and subsystem performance

Experience with capacity management, trend analysis, statistical modeling, and reporting tools

Ability to communicate technical findings and recommendations to business and technology stakeholders

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with SMF, CMF, MXG, SAS, MICS, or similar performance and capacity management tools

Knowledge of workload management concepts and mainframe performance tuning practices

Experience supporting financial services, banking, payments, or highly regulated environments

Familiarity with automation, scripting, or data analytics platforms used for infrastructure reporting

Understanding of hybrid infrastructure environments and enterprise technology planning

The pay range for this full-time position is $111,650.00 - $189,810.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay. Please consult with your recruiter about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
