Job description

Mainframe Systems Programmer

Location: Onsite in Portland, OR (Local or Neighboring State Candidates)

Position Overview: Responsible for supporting a mainframe critical to customer service and work management, with involvement in a transformation project to migrate away from the current platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day mainframe operations, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.
  • Capture screens and documentation for audits; validate technical direction from vendors
  • Interact with auditors and support audit requirements.
  • Apply software upgrades and manage mainframe licenses.
  • Question and validate vendor recommendations analytically, without confrontation.

Technical Requirements:

  • Strong experience with ZOS.
  • Familiarity with Cool: Gen, Endeavor (CA Endevor SCM) and RACF.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Prior mainframe experience required; utility industry experience is optional.
  • No specific programming language required if candidate is a senior mainframe systems.
  • Dell DLM (Disk Library for Mainframe) experience needed.
