Job Description:

We are seeking an z/OS Connect Systems Programmer to join our team providing system support of IBM's z/OS Connect and Information Management System (IMS) in the Mainframe & Database Services group.

Mainframe & Database Services group within Mainframe Delivery, Infrastructure and Engineering Team is responsible for Support, Design, Build, Test and Deploy of Mainframe database and transaction manager systems. We also provide consultation services with Architects, Business Analyst and application developers on application design and functions that is related to IMS, DB2, CICS, WAS z/OS, and z/OS Connect.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

This job posting is for a Sr z/Connect & IMS Systems Programmer. The successful candidate will be involved in analysis, building, testing, and deployment of z/OS Connect, IMS systems and related products:

  • Maintain z/OS Connect and IMS Infrastructure on the z/OS platform.

  • Support z/OS Connect and IMS related products.

  • Support z/OS Connect and IMS Business Analysts

  • Support z/OS Connect and IMS Engineers and Application Developers.

  • Position requires off-hours support [7/24 on-call support on a rotating basis]

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • College / University or equivalent work experience

  • 5-10 years of Mainframe system or application experience, with most of the following skills:

  • a fundamental understanding of IBM's Mainframe and z/OS Platform

  • an understanding of z/OS component and architecture

  • Performance analysis skills is an asset

  • Knowledge of SMP/E, Omegamon, System Automation and other Tools

  • Programming skills, Assembler and Cobol knowledge is an asset

  • Exposure to Sysplex, z/OS Performance, Db2, CICS, MQ, TCP/IP is an asset

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • The successful candidate must be a self-starter, team player, and able to collaborate positively with other departments
