Job description

Overview

CTG is seeking to fill a Mainframe COBOL Developer – Healthcare Claims position for our client.

Location: Sacramento, CA

Duration: 12 months

Duties:

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications and mainframe program logic.

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications supporting healthcare claims processing.

  • Develop and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.

  • Support CA-MMIS mainframe applications and related healthcare claims processing functions.

  • Perform unit, integration, and regression testing to ensure application quality and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, technical teams, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.

  • Participate in application maintenance, enhancements, and production support activities.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation related to application functionality and program changes.

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.

  • Knowledge of mainframe application development and maintenance.

  • Understanding of healthcare claims processing is preferred.

  • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience developing and executing unit, integration, and regression testing.

  • Ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience working with mainframe applications.

  • Experience developing and maintaining COBOL-based applications.

  • Experience with JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.

  • Healthcare claims processing experience is preferred.

  • Experience supporting complex enterprise applications and translating business requirements into technical solutions.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $55.00 to $62.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors

including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefit package is also offered.
