Job description

Job Purpose:

Our Operations Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring the operation of the warehouse and delivery system within the division while ensuring a competitive service advantage is provided to our customers. Some of these duties include shipping, receiving, inventory control, and logistics. This position will also provide supervision and leadership for the division to raise the standard of performance in meeting the financial and strategic goals of our internal and external customers.

Job Responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate work activities of warehouse functions (directly and through supervisors), including receiving, picking, shipping, delivery, security, and inventory control.
Develop and implement specific objectives and performance measures for each functional area.
Interpret, understand and act on individual and collective performance and quality data.
Lead selection and hiring of new warehouse and delivery employees and supervisors; evaluate employee performance and develop and implement action plans for improving employees' performance.
Maintain and manage a fair and equitable employee scorecard system for all warehouse and logistics personnel.
Ensure that all warehouse and delivery employees receive proper training and skills development.
Makes recommendations for and implements improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of warehouse operations.
Oversee the preparation and loading of trucks for shipments and delivery of orders in conformance with company procedures and customer instructions.
Oversee scheduling and dispatching of leased and company-owned vehicles.
Maintain and control the physical condition of the warehouse and delivery equipment, supplies, inventory, security, facilities, grounds, etc.
Manage and control warehouse and delivery expenses and capital.
Maintain a culture of safety that follows the organization's Health, Safety and Environmental (HS&E) policies to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to oneself and others in the workplace. Instruct the team in safe working methods and escalate serious issues as appropriate.
Ensure compliance with company and government policies and regulations (e.g., Safety, OSHA, HazMat, DOT).
Knowledgeable of safe work practices, policies and procedures and performs all duties in a safe manner. Supports division safety committee with the objective of an accident-free workplace. Ensures regular safety meetings are conducted; completes and reviews safety incident reports as necessary; recommends changes to assist in maintaining a safe working environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

PC proficient in Windows based software programs. Familiarity with mid-range and mainframe systems is helpful.
Excellent leadership, customer relations and interpersonal skills are required.
Ability to motivate team, manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
Strong planning and organization skills are required.
A thorough understanding and experience with distribution management (customer service, sales, purchasing, warehouse, credit, information systems and logistics). Preferably from a large, national or decentralized organization.

Rate of Pay: $101,700 per year

Work Experience:

5-10 years of related job experience.

Education:

High School Diploma/GED
