Mainframe Developer Location: Atlanta, GA / Vienna, VA / Chicago, IL – First Preference
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with 12–15 years of experience in COBOL-based mainframe development and strong expertise in FIS Core Banking Systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with RM, GN, IM, AM, and SC modules and will be responsible for developing, supporting, troubleshooting, and managing core banking applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, DB2, and JCL.

  • Develop and implement solutions following established SDLC methodologies.

  • Provide expert-level technical support for FIS Core Banking Systems, including RM, GN, IM, AM, and SC.

  • Analyze and resolve production incidents and application issues using a proactive ownership approach.

  • Troubleshoot complex technical problems and identify root causes and appropriate solutions.

  • Work closely with business users, technical teams, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.

  • Direct and oversee technical teams throughout project lifecycles when required.

  • Quickly adapt priorities based on changing business and project needs.

  • Present technical findings, analysis, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.

  • Maintain strong attention to detail, documentation, and organizational standards.

Required Qualifications
  • 12–15 years of Mainframe development experience.

  • Strong hands-on experience with:

    • COBOL

    • CICS

    • DB2

    • JCL

  • Extensive experience with FIS Core Banking Systems, including:

    • RM

    • GN

    • IM

    • AM

    • SC

  • Proven experience in application troubleshooting, incident resolution, and production support.

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and enterprise application development.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong presentation, documentation, and organizational skills.

  • Experience leading or overseeing technical teams through project lifecycles.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within the credit union or banking industry.

  • Experience supporting core banking applications in production environments.

  • Strong understanding of financial services business processes.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
