Job description

Job Summary:
Syntricate Technologies is seeking a Mainframe Cobol Developer to develop COBOL code for application solutions. The role involves unit testing, code reviews, and ensuring quality technical solutions while providing support and troubleshooting for applications.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Consulting with data management teams to get a big-picture idea of the company's data storage needs.
โ€ข Presenting the company with warehousing options based on their storage needs.
โ€ข Designing and coding the data warehousing system to desired company specifications.
โ€ข Conducting preliminary testing of the warehousing environment before data is extracted.
โ€ข Extracting company data and transferring it into the new warehousing environment.
โ€ข Testing the new storage system once all the data has been transferred.
โ€ข Troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
โ€ข Providing maintenance support.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Develop COBOL code for application solutions based on technical program specifications utilizing Key and/or Netron Fusion.
โ€ข Perform unit testing of application software modifications utilizing various programming platforms and productivity tools and review results for accuracy.
โ€ข Adhere to defined processes and procedures to ensure the quality of the technical solution.
โ€ข Prepare for and participate in code reviews as requested.
โ€ข Modify test data or create new test data to ensure successful results of modifications to program code.
โ€ข Perform regression testing where applicable to ensure current changes have not impacted existing processing.
โ€ข Perform/ensure in-depth testing of software occurs including, Unit Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing.
โ€ข Participate in the setup and support of the production environment.
โ€ข Troubleshoot problems that may arise getting to the root cause to facilitate solving the problems.
โ€ข Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis.
โ€ข Provide on call support in support of application and system availability.
โ€ข Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues causing the unavailability of applications for users.
โ€ข Document the cause and resolution of outages in the System Info databases.
โ€ข Thoroughly document code changes.
โ€ข Experience with Eclipse, Java.
โ€ข Experience with Heirloom (COBOL Developer migration to cloud).
โ€ข Experience with KEY and/or Netron Fusion development environments.
โ€ข Experience with advanced SQL concepts.
โ€ข Experience with IBM or CA tools and utilities (TSO, Expediter, InterTest, Debug, Platinum, Princeton, etc.).
