Job description

Position Purpose
Proactive maintenance of accounting functions at plant locations including day to day functions associated with inventory management and costing. Work closely with plant manager for increased financial visibility at the plant level
Essential Functions
  • Provide financial support for capital development projects from approval to installation
  • Responsible for accurate recording of manufacturing and overhead costs
  • Analyzes variances, monthly operating results, and key operating measures ensuring results are accurately reported
  • Produces daily, weekly, monthly reports of manufacturing results and performance
  • Assists local management in identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities
  • Assists division accounting personnel in the monthly closing process. Records reoccurring expenses, such as depreciation, taxes, insurance for the location
  • Assist in both internal/external audits
  • Ensures adequate internal controls exist and are utilized at the plant level. Identifies areas of weakness and assists local management in implementing corrective action
  • Assists local management in developing monthly forecasts and annual plan
  • Participate as a member of plant managers staff by involvement in regular staff meetings and month management review meetings
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain Fixed Asset System for the location
  • Analyzes inventory variances/transactions, plus inventory control cycle count program
  • All other duties assigned

Education and Training
  • BS/BA Degree in Accounting required
  • CMA/CPA certificate a plus
  • MBA Degree a plus

Minimum Qualifications
  • Manufacturing cost experience (2-3 years) preferred
  • Cost analysis in a manufacturing/machining environment strongly preferred. Experience in standard cost systems strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to analyze and interpret data required
  • Familiarly with General Accounting required (A/P, Payroll, General Ledger)
  • Solid PC and mainframe software skills (MS Office, MRP, Ledger, Query) required
  • QAD experience a plus
  • 2-3 years' experience in standard cost rate development a plus
  • 2-3 years' experience in cost quote development a plus
