Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe Developer with strong experience in application analysis, development, maintenance, and legacy modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in COBOL-based applications and a strong understanding of enterprise mainframe environments, batch processing, production support, and application modernization.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform code screening, analysis, and assessment of existing mainframe applications to identify dependencies, inefficiencies, risks, and optimization opportunities.
• Analyze legacy applications and contribute to modernization, transformation, and migration strategies.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL, DB2, and CICS-based applications.
• Develop, enhance, and manage JCL jobs, including batch processing and workflow scheduling.
• Work with Control-M and enterprise scheduling tools for job automation, monitoring, and issue resolution.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support integrations with distributed systems, APIs, and downstream applications.
• Perform impact analysis and support application enhancements, defect fixes, and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, performance best practices, and security guidelines.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, code changes, process flows, and operational procedures.
• Support QA, UAT, deployment, and post-production validation activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across application development, maintenance, and modernization processes.
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of hands-on experience with Mainframe technologies, including COBOL, DB2, VSAM, JCL, and CICS.
• Strong experience with batch processing, job scheduling, and production support environments.
• Experience with enterprise scheduling tools such as Control-M.
• Proficiency with Mainframe debugging and analysis tools such as Xpediter, File-AID, and Abend-AID.
• Strong experience analyzing and supporting legacy Mainframe applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and impact analysis skills.
• Experience working in Agile and SDLC-driven environments.
• Experience supporting application modernization, transformation, or migration initiatives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong collaboration skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
