Job description

Overview
Vanguard is seeking a seasoned, enterprise-minded sales leader to join our Broker Dealer Field Sales organization as Senior Manager, Broker Dealer Field Sales - Northeast Wirehouses. This is a high-impact divisional leadership role with responsibility for setting strategy, driving growth and client loyalty, and leading a team of senior Market Directors across a multi-line product set.
The Northeast Wirehouses division covers key territories across New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. In this role, you will lead a highly experienced team that partners with advisors at the largest wirehouse firms-Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, UBS, and Wells Fargo. You will also work closely with local and regional leadership at these firms, aligning Vanguard's objectives with their strategic priorities where shared opportunities exist.
This role is designed for a leader who can effectively balance strategy and execution, someone who can translate enterprise priorities into disciplined, measurable sales activity; scale impact through others; and deepen Vanguard's influence across the most complex and competitive segment of the intermediary landscape. Success in this role requires a proven track record of developing, engaging, and retaining high-performing sales teams, strong enterprise leadership, and the ability to align and collaborate with cross-functional partners across intermediary businesses.
About Vanguard
At Vanguard, our core purpose is to take a stand for all investors, to treat them fairly, and to give them the best chance for investment success. Our distribution teams play a critical role in advancing that mission by building enduring partnerships with financial institutions and advisors. The Broker Dealer channel is central to Vanguard's long-term growth strategy, and this role sits at the heart of that effort.
What You'll Do
  • Lead and develop a senior sales organization
Hire, coach, and mentor a team of senior-level sales executives aligned to the wirehouse channel. Set clear expectations, drive accountability, and foster a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous development.
  • Own divisional strategy for the Northeast Wires territory
Establish and execute a clear sales, growth, and retention strategy across the Northeast Wires division, aligning enterprise priorities with territory-level execution and measurable outcomes.
  • Drive growth across the wirehouse channel
Partner with your team to expand market share, grow assets, and deepen utilization of Vanguard's investment and non-investment solutions within Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, UBS, and Wells Fargo.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships
Cultivate trusted relationships with senior and executive leaders at wirehouse home offices and in the field. Position Vanguard as a strategic partner by bringing insight into market trends, competitive dynamics, regulatory considerations, and advisor business challenges.
  • Enable disciplined sales execution at scale
Develop and deploy sales plans, performance metrics, and best practices that support consistent execution, scalability, and long-term results across the division.
  • Collaborate across Vanguard
Work closely with internal partners across distribution, product, marketing, and service to ensure a coordinated, enterprise approach to prospecting, onboarding, and servicing complex wirehouse relationships.
  • Shape enterprise initiatives
Contribute to broader Broker Dealer and distribution strategy through participation in special projects and enterprise-wide initiatives that support Vanguard's long-term growth objectives.

What It Takes
Experience
  • 10+ years of related experience, including significant time in senior-level sales or client leadership roles
  • Deep experience within the Broker Dealer and/or wirehouse distribution environment
  • Proven track record leading, coaching, and developing experienced sales professionals

Education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Graduate degree preferred
  • CFA designation preferred

Licensing
  • Applicable regulatory licenses and/or registrations as determined by Compliance based on role responsibilities
  • Series 7, 63, and 24 required

Leadership & Capabilities
  • Ability to set strategic direction and translate strategy into disciplined, measurable execution
  • Strong executive presence and credibility with senior client leaders
  • Deep understanding of wirehouse business models, competitive dynamics, and regulatory environments
  • Collaborative, enterprise-oriented leadership style with a strong emphasis on talent development
