JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of a Teacher.
Essential Functions
  • The ability to report to the school office following the scheduled time in Absence Management, except at the secondary level, where the reporting time will depend on class schedule.
  • Fills out the necessary forms, obtains any special instructions, and checks the duty list to see if there are any special duties to cover during the day.
  • Checks the regular teacher's mailbox for special bulletins, money sack, etc.
  • Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods as assigned.
  • Grades all papers done that day and records the results on the graded papers, and on a loose sheet which may be folded in the grade book.
  • Records absences in the manner presented in each building.
  • Upon completion of the teaching day, the substitute is expected to stop in the school office to receive any instructions relative to another assignment; complete required personnel forms; return keys and other materials; complete and request signature from the appropriate personnel on the substitute timesheet.
