Job description

This job requires the ability to work accurately and productively in a team setting as well as alone. Machine Operators are expected to be able to; input client information, set up the Optical Character Reader (OCR), load full trays of mail onto the machine for processing, monitor barcode quality (according to UMS QC policies), load/unload mail trays/tubs from USPS All Purpose Carriers/pallets, and package mail and/or label trays/tubs according to zip code. This position requires the knowledge of USPS mail preparation regulations, ability to identify poor quality issues, and the ability to make independent decisions as needed to ensure the mail is processed quickly and accurately.

Operators will also be required to perform the job duties of a Mail Processor as needed, which occasionally requires the Machine Operator to simultaneously operate mail sorting equipment and pull back mail from sorting bins.
