Magnetic Particle Inspector Weekend information

What is the difference between NDT and MPI?

Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) is a type of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) used to detect surface and near-surface flaws in ferromagnetic materials by applying magnetic fields and iron particles. NDT encompasses various methods, including MPI, ultrasonic, radiographic, and dye penetrant testing, each suited for different inspection needs. MPI is valued for its speed, sensitivity, and ability to identify small surface defects in magnetic materials, making it a common skill for Magnetic Particle Inspectors.

What kind of inspectors make the most money?

Among inspection roles, certified magnetic particle inspectors with advanced certifications and extensive experience tend to earn higher salaries. Inspectors working in high-demand industries such as aerospace, oil and gas, or nuclear power, often with specialized skills and certifications, also typically make more money. Salary can vary based on location, employer, and level of expertise.
