What is a Maddox?

The term 'Maddox' typically refers to a surname or company name rather than a specific job title. However, in some medical or optometry contexts, 'Maddox' can refer to the Maddox Rod, an instrument used by eye care professionals to assess and diagnose eye alignment issues. If you are referring to an individual named Maddox or a company called Maddox, the job responsibilities and context would depend on the specific role or industry involved.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Maddox, and why are they important?

Sorry, 'Maddox' is not recognized as a real-world professional occupation, so I am unable to generate a relevant response.

What is the difference between Maddox vs Optometrist?

AspectMaddoxOptometrist
Required CredentialsTypically requires specialized training in vision therapy and binocular visionRequires Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree and licensure
Work EnvironmentOften works in vision clinics, hospitals, or specialized eye centersWorks in private practices, clinics, or hospitals
Industry UsageUsed primarily in vision therapy and binocular vision assessmentsUsed broadly for eye exams, prescriptions, and general eye health

While Maddox is a specialized technique or tool used within vision therapy, an Optometrist is a licensed eye care professional who can perform comprehensive eye exams, prescribe glasses or contact lenses, and diagnose eye conditions. Both roles are integral to eye health, but Maddox is more specific to certain diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

About Maddox + You:

As a Maddox OEM Purchasing Representative, you will report to the Supplier Relations Manager, under direction of the OEM Purchasing Team Lead, in a fast-paced and highly dynamic procurement environment.  Your work will focus on forging/improving supplier relationships, mitigating supply risks, and ensuring profitability through consistent transformer production, quality, and delivery.

You will manage a designated portfolio of strategic OEMs, engaging in pricing and production capacity negotiations, as well as in quality/service compliance audits.  As a result, you will have direct responsibility for ensuring that Maddox continuously procures the "right" units, from the "right" OEMs, in the "right" quantities–all at the "right" time to meet our customers' expectations.  Additionally, you will have exciting opportunities to assist the Supplier Relations Manager and OEM Purchasing Team Lead in representing Maddox at select high-profile trade shows.  You will also get to visit and onboard new suppliers, as the needs of our business continuously expand.

Your day-to-day activities will involve reviewing customer order specifications and OEM approval drawings to ensure supplier compatibility.  You will also closely collaborate with Maddox OEM Purchase Order Coordinators in uncovering and solving supply-related issues.  When necessary, you will facilitate resolution meetings between OEMs and our various internal stakeholders.  When significant order milestones are reached, or roadblocks are encountered, you will be responsible for notifying our affected Customer Service, Sales, and Leadership teams and working with them to provide solutions.

More About You:

  • You have a strong sense of urgency as well as a heightened sense of attention to detail.
  • You have an "owner's mentality."  When assigned a task or project, you gladly accept responsibility and run with it.
  • You are confident, yet unashamed to ask for help when necessary.
  • You are customer-centric and easy to do business with, aiming to provide solutions for internal stakeholders and suppliers alike.
  • You can think quickly and juggle a list of rapidly changing priorities, while maintaining a calm and positive demeanor.
  • You have a basic working-level of skill with spreadsheets and dashboards (i.e. Excel, Power BI, Google Sheets).
  • You have highly-developed communication skills, business acumen, and professional etiquette.
  • You have a proven track record of negotiation and influencing others without strict reliance on formal authority.
  • You have exceptional emotional intelligence, coupled with an adaptive communication style.

Skills and Experience:

We value experience, so if you have 20+ years of related experience, that's great!  We're also very good at training new recruits, and are willing to invest in a select number of promising early-career candidates with the right attitude and ambition.  For this particular role, education/experience in engineering, technical sales, quality control, manufacturing, or purchasing is desirable, but not required.

Work Location:

In office, with occasional domestic and/or international travel (up to 15%)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Comprehensive full-time benefits package averaging $20,000+ per year (amount varies based on age, family size, and eligibility), including:
    • Health & wellness benefits (insurance or cash-in-lieu options)
    • Paid maternity and paternity leave
    • 401(k) with 100% match up to 8% of wages
    • Paid holidays, PTO, and family-life gifts
    • Vision, dental, disability, life insurance, and other voluntary benefits
Hourly range:
$28.77—$41.72 USD
