Job Description:
Technical Product Owner - VRR Macro Helix
Location: The Woodlands, Texas (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview
A highly hands-on Technical Product Owner (TPO) is sought to support a large-scale data modernization initiative within a complex healthcare data environment. This role will focus on migrating data processing and workflows from SQL Server to Databricks, ensuring scalability, performance improvements, and data reliability. The position requires deep involvement in technical execution, working with developers, IT operations, and business stakeholders to manage detailed product requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage detailed user stories within Jira, including continuous refinement and updates throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Translate existing SQL-based processes into clear, actionable requirements for migration to Databricks.
  • Identify gaps, dependencies, and risks in proposed solutions and ensure they are addressed before development.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure alignment on requirements, architecture impact, and delivery expectations.
  • Analyze existing SQL Server processes and data workflows to support migration planning.
  • Understand data dependencies, integrations, and impacts across systems when transitioning to Databricks.
  • Define and drive a repeatable, automated testing strategy for validating data integrity and system outputs.
  • Help define a standardized, repeatable deployment approach to minimize risk.
  • Contribute to evolving delivery processes, including exploring ways to leverage AI for code generation and documentation-driven development.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills: Strong hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases (querying, data modeling, normalization, batch/asynchronous processing). Experience working with large-scale data migrations or transformations. Familiarity with modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks or similar technologies) and an understanding of data integration, synchronization, and pipeline design.
Product & Delivery Expertise: Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner or similar role in highly technical environments. Experience writing and managing detailed user stories and working closely with development teams. A strong understanding of Agile methodologies (e.g., working in sprint cycles, backlog management).
Testing & Quality Focus: Experience defining data validation and automated testing strategies. Ability to ensure completeness and accuracy in testing complex data workflows.
Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare data (e.g., patient data, pharmacy, billing, or similar datasets) is strongly preferred. Experience working in regulated or complex data environments is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with large-scale platform migrations involving performance or scalability challenges.
  • Exposure to distributed data systems or parallel processing environments.
  • Familiarity with canary or staged deployment approaches.
  • Experience incorporating AI-assisted development or automation into SDLC processes.
