CNC Lathe Machinist I (Entry Level)
$16-$19/hr.

Day Shift
Position Summary
The CNC Lathe Machinist I is responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes to manufacture precision-machined components, including small to medium-sized parts such as flanges, fittings, and similar products. This position is ideal for someone with 1–2 years of CNC machining experience who is eager to grow their skills in a precision manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes using approved setup sheets, work instructions, and blueprints.
  • Load and unload raw material and finished parts safely and efficiently.
  • Verify machine setup prior to production and perform first-piece inspections.
  • Make minor machine adjustments and tool offset changes to maintain part quality. Escalate programming or process issues to the supervisor or programmer.
  • Monitor machine operation to ensure parts meet dimensional and surface finish requirements.
  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other measuring equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and basic GD&T.
  • Perform deburring, tapping, polishing, and other secondary operations as required.
  • Identify and report tooling wear, machine issues, or quality concerns.
  • Complete required production and inspection documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and quality procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Quality Responsibilities (AS9100/ISO)

  • Follow all AS9100/ISO procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements.
  • Complete required quality and production records accurately.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and required training.
  • Report quality or process concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Support internal and external quality audits as needed.


Qualifications
Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational machining training preferred.
  • One to two years of CNC lathe machining experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.


Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Basic understanding of CNC lathe setup and operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
  • Ability to make minor tool offset adjustments to maintain part quality.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
