CNC Machinist Weekends - Fri, Sat, Sun 5am-5pm, Base Rate + Weekend Shift Differential
PURPOSE: The machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC and/or manual machines to produce precision parts that meet exacting specifications. This role ensures consistent part quality, supports efficient production flow, and contributes to continuous improvement in machining processes. The machinist maintains a clean, safe, and organized workspace while collaborating with team members to achieve production goals.
DUTIES:
  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC and/or manual lathes and mills.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
  • Perform program edits, machine offsets, and tool changes as needed.
  • Ensure all parts meet dimensional and surface finish requirements using precision measuring tools.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to improve part quality and process efficiency.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, following all safety and quality procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and quality inspectors to resolve technical issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 5 years of machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machine operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD amp;T, and machining instructions.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).
  • Excellent understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and materials.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality, tight-tolerance parts.
  • Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are 50 pounds or heavier.
