Job description

Job Title: Machine Operator 

Job Summary 
Responsible for operating and maintaining various production machines to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing processes. This role involves monitoring equipment, performing quality checks, and ensuring products meet specifications. 

Responsibility 
  • Operate and monitor production machines according to established procedures and safety standards. 
  • Perform regular quality checks on products to ensure they meet specified tolerances and quality requirements. 
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe work environment at all times. 
  • Make adjustments to machine settings and controls when necessary, depending on facility-specific processes and requirements, to maintain product quality and production flow. 
  • Conduct preventative maintenance (PM), total productive maintenance (TPM), and cleaning of equipment to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance. 
  • Report any safety concerns, equipment malfunctions or production issues to the Production Supervisor or designate promptly. 
  • Document production data and maintain accurate records of machine output and performance. 
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and assist with troubleshooting and resolving production issues. 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process enhancements and equipment optimization via lean suggestions. 

Academic/Educational Requirements 
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or training in machine operation is an asset. 

Required Skills/Experience 
  • 1-2 years of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, work orders, and blueprints is an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude with basic troubleshooting skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate quality checks. 
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
